Website Reactions

Hello Everyone!
I think the website was great! It was very user friendly and I believe the information is accurate. I was very impressed with the overview and the chart they created to show all of the information that goes into what we have to teach. With the skills going around the outside, we have to keep in mind the 21st century skills! For teachers that have been teaching for many years, this may be hard to let go of previous plans, and update them to new (technology) plans. I really do not disagree with any of the points made. Honestly, I did not even know there was a website like this! For my students, I have to keep the advances in mind... especially since I teach high school (and the job search is in their near future). As a contemporary teacher, I need to keep my ideas fresh and keep looking for new ideas to try in my class!
Best of Luck everyone!

  1. I think it is interesting the way you refer to lesson plans that address 21st century skills. You mentioned that teachers for many years have to let go of their previous plans. I had not yet thought of it that way, but it makes sense that a teacher who may not have incorporated technology in their lessons would have to reconsider their reasoning, design, and the presentation of the content matter shared in class. However, I do not think that teachers have to completely erase or terminate any previous plans. In fact, the plans they have saved over the years are great starting points for changes to come. In other words, teachers should continue to utilize the foundation of which they have built their curricular design. Instead, they are enhancing these lessons so they may incorporate 21st century skills. In fact, I think any lesson could be enhanced by integrating the skills presented in the website provided this week.

  2. It is very true what you stated about older teachers not wanting to let ago of the old methods. I feel like that is the story of my entire administration. They have all been in the system for a long time. They know how important it is to incorporate the technology, they are just finding it hard to let go of what they are so used to. I, being a younger teacher, am full swing with the technology. It is nice to get such positive feedback and be able to have a "one-up" on the more experienced teachers when it comes to technology.

  3. Hello! I agree that it is extremely important for you to keep your students updated with the new technology that is offered. I teach first grade and I help to provide their foundation. Hopefully if we all do our part as "high performing teachers", by the time they get to high school they will be knowledgeable in terms of technology and its uses. I think it is wonderful that you are exposing them to all that technology has to offer. They are in high school and there is just so much they are capable of. We are taking the first step by taking technology as our specialization. Now we have to implement all that we have learned in order for our students to keep up with technology and the advances it has made and will continue making.
